The Microsoft exam 70-290 measures an individual’s ability to manage and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment. Before taking the 70-290 exam, you should practice the following:

 - Monitor server hardware by using tools such as Device Manager, Hardware Troubleshooting Wizard, and appropriate Control Panel items.
 - Optimize server disk performance by implementing a RAID solution and defragmenting volumes and partitions.
 - Configure driver signing options, resource setting for a device, device properties and settings.
 - Manage local, roaming, and mandatory user profiles.
 - Create and manage computer accounts in an Active Directory environment.
 - Create and modify groups by using the Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
 - Identify and modify the scope of a group and manage group membership.
 - Create and modify user accounts by using the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in and by using automation.
 - Diagnose and resolve issues related to computer accounts by using the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in and reset computer accounts.
 - Diagnose and resolve account lockouts and issues related to user account properties.
 - Troubleshoot user authentication issues and manage shared folder permissions.
 - Diagnose and resolve issues related to Terminal Services security and client access to Terminal Services.
 - Verify effective permissions when granting permissions and change ownership of files and folders.
 - Monitor and analyze events by using tools such as Event Viewer and System Monitor.
 - Manage software update infrastructure and software site licensing.
 - Manage a server by using Remote Assistance, Terminal Services remote administration mode, and available support tools.
 - Troubleshoot and monitor print queues
 - Monitor disk quotas and server hardware for bottlenecks.
 - Monitor memory performance objects, network performance objects, process performance objects, and disk performance objects.
 - Manage Internet Information Services (IIS) and security for IIS.
 - Implement Automated System Recovery (ASR) and restore data from shadow copy volumes.
 - Back up files and System State data to media and configure security for backup operations.
 - Verify the successful completion of backup jobs and manage backup storage media.
